There's nothing I can say to explain what my first Splendour experience was like. Working, camping with my friends, checking out some old favourite plus some banging new artists, it's everything a music lover wants in a festival.
Safe to say I'll be back next year, but for now I thought I'd put together some of the best tracks I heard from the festival. Since I was working, I couldn't see everyone, but I definitely experienced some of the best live music I've heard in a long time.
It's no lie that Splendour brings in the best crowds and the best performances by artists who feel the vibes, and I can vouch that some of the people up there may have had more fun than the crowd below.
Some stand outs were the ever charismatic Childish Gambino, whose energy was infectious and left me sweating my ass off in the Mix Up tent, Wave Racer as always, the ever mind-blowing Nina Las Vegas, who donned an Alison-Wonderland-esque Grey Goose at her set, one of the best house DJs Motez, an all time favourite Metronomy whose aesthetic effort is second to none, the late comer Presets who brought the house down, the babin' Basenji, Danny Brown who managed to fill the Mix Up tent with flying toilet paper and the voice altering Sable.
As you're about to hear this mix has a lot of electronic tunes, but to be fair I spent the majority of my time in the Mix Up tent soaking up all the beats in between major acts. I've discovered some amazing new music to check out, and super keen to add them to my music collection.
All in all, an amazing weekend was had, full of dancing, singing, walking and partying. I hope you enjoy the mixtape and can reminisce in all the glory that Splendour provides ◕‿↼
