Heyo,
So I want to start featuring artists that I've been loving over the last few weeks and although it's halfway through October I wanted to do last month with Pity Sex. These guys use the tags lo-fi shoegaze indie punk to describe themselves, and this eclectic mix definitely suits the mix of feelings that I get when I listen to them. I feel it's a combination of absolute solemnity but a real nostalgia for the summer and hanging out with my friends. The distressed vocals and heavy but muffled guitar is perfect for lying on your bed in sweltering heat, driving in the car or getting drunk with your best buds. Both their releases under Run For Cover Records "Dark World" and their more recent "Feast of Love" are both really great, and still hold the same feel, although there are definite differences and growth between the first and second releases. These guys really play on the emotional string here, but in a great way. It's not a sit-at-home-and-cry feel, but a real tranquil combination of feelings of solitude and a longing for others. Although its always awkward trying to talk about a band called "Pity Sex", I highly recommend these guys and you should definitely give them a listen coming into the warmer months!
