From the first listen of South Carolina's Toro Y Moi, I knew he would be my artist for October. Right from the start, his chilled out waves of electronica calm everything down, and his 80's synth on tracks like "So Many Details" take you to summer dusks on the beach. This conglomeration of electronic with subtle ethnic beats overlaid with Bundwick's surreal vocals are definitely what sets this guy apart from the typical electronic project, and I feel that this summer is his time to shine.

Tracks like "New Beat" with funky basslines reminiscent of Breakbot and Tame Impala-esque flangers can't be ignored when searching for the perfect accompaniment to chilled out Saturday nights or a daydream of partying in a cool Californian club circa 1979. This is a relatively short Artist of the Month, because you just need to check it out for yourself! Although he's been around for a while, Toro Y Moi is definitely worth a listen, and hey, I don't care if I'm late! Toro Y Moi (or "Bull and Me" in English) oozes cool, and definitely deserves a spot in your "Recently Added" playlist!
