The Creases kicked off their "Static Lines" tour in Brisbane last night at the Black Bear Lodge, and I decided to make the trip and check out the four piece before they trek around the rest of the country before the launch of their Gradient EP.
Although we missed the Furrs, Babaganouj gave everyone a great warm up with upbeat bop rock tunes, and the best cover of Teenage Dream I've ever heard.
The Creases brought their trademark cool surf rock riffs, with their friends and family surrounding them. It was an awesome gig, with instant classics like "I Won't Wait" and "Static Lines" and finishing up with a cover of "Gay Bar" by Electric Six, accompanied by an unknown old dude on the tambourine. The welcoming atmosphere made it all the more enjoyable, and there wasn't a person without a smile on their face as they watched the locals show them what Brisbane is all about.
Both Babaganouj and the Creases are ones to watch, with a heavy triplej backing and a new-wave yet classic rock sound. If you get the chance definitely check them out, you'll appreicate it later, I guarantee.
